SUMMARY:Insights into the Transtheoretical Model of Change in Practice
DESCRIPTION:Insights into the Transtheoretical Model of Change in Practice \nContent Area: \nCompetency 2: Theories\, Models\, and Approaches to Behavior Change – 2.2 Transtheoretical Model of Change (Stages of Change) \nEvent Description:  \nJoin us for an insightful session on the Transtheoretical Model of Change (TTM) and its practical application in coaching. This event will explore how stage-appropriate interventions reduce frustration\, prevent burnout\, and redefine what success truly looks like in behavior change work. Coaches will walk away with a clearer\, more sustainable approach that honors client autonomy while strengthening their own professional well-being. \nAttendees Will Learn:  \n\nRespecting client autonomy and protecting practitioner wellbeing are two sides of the same coin. \nStage-mismatched interventions are a driver of professional frustration and even burnout because they create repeated experiences of “failure”.\nSuccess is not moving through the stages—you’re not failing if a client in precontemplation doesn’t change behavior; you may be succeeding at exactly what that stage requires.\nStage-appropriate goals and responses describe what “effective practice” means—collaborating on different goal types at different stages is important.\nYou cannot control whether clients change\, but you can control whether your practice is sustainable. The TTM shifts your focus from outcomes you can’t control to processes you can control.\n\nSpeaker Bio: \nSimon Matthews FACLM\, FASLM\, MHlthSci\, DipIBLM\, MAPS\, NBC-HWC\, PCC  \nSimon is a psychologist and leadership coach with a particular interest in supporting healthcare leaders. He is also a certified coaching mentor and supervisor. He is a Fellow of both the American College and Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Simon is Board Certified in Health Coaching\, Lifestyle Medicine\, and Hypnotherapy. He is an Adjunct Lecturer at Avondale University’s Lifestyle Medicine & Health Research Centre and a Lead Coach and faculty member with Wellcoaches School of Coaching. \nIn addition\, Simon is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Instituto de Medicina de Estilo de Vida in Spain\, the International Advisory Board of the Romanian Society of Lifestyle Medicine\, and the Scientific Advisory Board for the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi. He is Head of Health Coaching and Psychology for Morrow Health in Singapore. He is a Director of the US not-for-profit Global Positive Health Institute.  \nSimon consults internationally in lifestyle medicine\, health coaching\, behavior change\, social connection\, and positive psychology.
