CMS CY2027 Proposed Rule Webinar: What It Means for Health and Wellness Coaching

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed an important new national payment pathway for health and wellness coaching as part of the CY 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule. The proposal addresses Medicare payment for CPT codes 0591T–0593T and includes provisions related to service valuation, practitioner supervision, coach qualifications, telehealth delivery, and the potential development of dedicated HCPCS G-codes.
Hosted by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), this webinar will provide an overview of the proposed rule and examine its potential implications for NBC-HWCs, healthcare workplaces, coaching programs, the health and wellness coaching profession and the broader whole person care mission. Presenters will review the key elements of the proposal, discuss how the proposed requirements align with current evidence and models of care, outline NBHWC’s approach to the public comment period, and share practical guidance to help our NBHWC members of the coaching community prepare and submit informed comments to CMS.
Whether you currently deliver health and wellness coaching within a healthcare setting, in your own practice, or are interested in future Medicare integration, this session will help clarify what CMS has proposed, what questions remain, and how the profession can contribute meaningfully to the final policy.
